NEWS RELEASE: FEBRUARY 1, 2011: HARARE'S GOT TALENT 3

The third Harare's Got Talent show will be staged at Reps Theatre this weekend, providing a platform for newcomers to the arts and entertainment scene to showcase their talent and start making an impact on the local scene.

The show is a follow-up to two successful Harare's Got Talent events at Reps during 2010, when more than 40 performers were presented, including singers, dancers, comedians and other acts. More than a dozen performers have put down their names for the third show.

"Harare's Got Talent 3 will be yet another opportunity for audiences to be reminded of just how much genuine talent there is in Harare, especially among the young people of the city, and it gives the performers a chance to be seen and heard and possibly to get their careers off to a start through being able to showcase themselves," said Erin Cooper of Reps Theatre.

Reps provides the theatre as a free venue for the performers and has made the show a fun talent contest as well as an entertainment for the public, who are welcome to watch the show. Ticket prices are kept to a minimum - $5 for all patrons.

A panel of judges will provide feedback on the performances and will select a winner and two runners-up, who achieve the prestige of being the top performers of the evening. The winners of the first two shows were dance teacher Ketan Nagar and his Mumbai Jackson dance trio and singer Kirby Chipembere respectively.

At this week's show Kirby Chipembere will perform to remind the audience of how he won the last show, while Patrick Barrett - a local singer now being trained in the United Kingdom - will give a guest performance.

Harare's Got Talent 3 will be held at 7pm on Saturday February 5 and advance booking for seats is open at The Spotlight.
