REPS Afdis Awards 2007

And the winner is ...

Fiddler On The Roof was named Reps Theatre's best production of 2007, taking home the Oude Meester Award of Excellence and five other trophies at the annual Reps African Distillers Awards ceremony at the weekend.

Awards for the production also went to director Teri Grimmel, lead actor Mike Lanchester, props mistress Linda Hyde, Aaron Ziwande (best performance in a minor role) and a second award for Mike Lanchester for outstanding musical performance of the year. This was a third run of the acclaimed musical on the Reps stage, two previous productions having been staged in the 1970s and the 1980s.

Best actress for 2007 was Fiona Garrity, for her role as Sister Aloysius in the drama Doubt, while best supporting actor was Chris Charnley (Father Flynn in Doubt) and best supporting actress was Erin Cooper, for her performance as Joyce in the Little Grimley comedy trio.

The Reps productions for 2007 were Lucky Lips, Doubt, Fiddler On The Roof, Hunting Cockroaches, The Last Tango In Little Grimley, Those Were The Days, Brush Up Your Shakespeare, Stretch, Dance and Groan, Paul Wreaks Havoc and Little Red Riding Hood.

Sue Greener, who chairs the lighting committee and also assists with accounts for the Repertory Players society;
The Steve Bonney Special Award (judges' decision) -
John Bonney (who revived the Backstage Committee and was stage director);
The Isabeau Granger Trophy for best amateur director -

The George Barnes Award for best actress in a leading role -
