Reps Theatre has extended the run of its acclaimed musical show Do U Wanna Rock? because of heavy public demand after its original five-performance run.
Due to close on Saturday night (March 25), the show will now have three extra performances - Wednesday March 29 to Friday March 31 inclusive.
"Response has been amazing and we have bowed to huge public demand for another few performances, after word of mouth and publicity brought many people in to book unsuccessfully for the initial series," said the show's producer, Chris Charnley.
Harare audiences have been rocking to the music of the show, which presents a feast of rock songs and is a benefit for Zimbabwe's Mr Theatre, Adrian Stanley. It was created as a musical extravaganza that aimed at having audiences singing along, dancing in the aisles and enjoying the talents of no fewer than 10 singers, a seven-piece band and a top dance group.
Among the cast are established female vocalists like Ellena Kufusa Smith, Storm Evershed and Rosie Osborne (daughter of Rob and Ellie Osborne), along with newcomers Katrin Stutz and Samantha Tirivacho. Male vocalists include Reps stalwarts David Smith and Roy Freestone, 5Star boy band stars Josh Ansley and Alex Fairlie, as well as newcomer to Reps Rowland Amm. Dancers have been trained by June Cloete and are all National Ballet of Zimbabwe performers.
Bookings can be made at The Spotlight (Monday to Friday 10am to 2pm, Saturday 9am to 12 noon). Showtime is 7pm each night, with box office opening an hour beforehand.
