The Season Ticket opens up a world of top-class theatre to you during Reps' 50/80 Celebratory year!
Get your 50/80 celebratory keepsakes!
REPS will be running a 14-month celebratory activity called the 50/80 Anniversary, which marks a double commemoration - the 50th anniversary of the opening of Reps Theatre (January 13 2010) and the 80th anniversary of the Repertory Players (February 17 2011).
We are planning to introduce a range of products that will be branded with the Reps logo and which will be available to members to purchase.
Information on these items can be found on this page.
If you are interested in purchasing any of these products, please use the downloadable order form.
Although the time limit for the initial order has passed, we shall come back with a second order request at least twice during the coming year - probably in March and September. Of course, orders at these times will be subject to availability of items and prices may vary, depending on how suppliers' costs have risen (if at all).
We believe the items being made available for this purpose are of excellent quality and will give members the pleasure of being able to associate themselves with the remarkable anniversaries that we are about to celebrate, so we hope you be able to take advantage of the initial order period and purchase some of the products being made available.
Thanks
Reps Theatre acknowledges with gratitude the support of Roger Fairlie of Filmcom (telephone Harare 883119) and the Mashonaland Photographic Society (telephone Judy Macdonald on Harare 870306), who undertake respectively the filming and stills photography of all Repertory Players productions.
History of Reps: Volume 2
Zimbabwe's longest-operating and most successful theatrical group, The Repertory Players, will celebrate their 80th anniversary in 2011 and among the many activities and initiatives planned to mark this remarkable occasion will be the publication of The History of Reps Volume Two, a companion to the original book published in 1975 by the late Bob Cary.
Work is already well under way to produce this book, with a considerable history of the period 1975 to 1992 having been written by the late Alan Parkinson.
Stan Higgins and Sue McMillan are spearheading the project and they are sourcing memorabilia, memories, photographs and anything else that will help them create a book that will be a 'must-have' for all Reps members - past, present and future - as well as all lovers of theatre, in Zimbabwe and abroad.
Publication is scheduled for February 2011, which may seem a long way off, but in projects like these it is essential top work well ahead to ensure deadlines are met.
To enable this to happen, paper is to be purchased and other expenditure undertaken, so it is now necessary to start drawing in financial resources to fund the entire exercise.
Friends of Reps based in the Republic of Ireland have created a means by which people resident across the world can assist by booking their copies of the book now.
Three editions will be published - a soft cover copy, a hardback and a limited-run leather-bound souvenir edition (only 150 to be produced!). All you need do is choose which one you want and then advise the Reps office accordingly, by e-mailing, faxing or handing in a copy of the order form (see download links below).
You will then be advised of how to make payment and, once payment has been confirmed as received, your name will be down to receive a copy of The History of Reps Volume Two.
This will be a superb addition to the libraries of many people and Reps expects a heavy demand, especially for the leather-bound and hardback editions, so it is recommended that you book right away.
Costs of the editions for people booking between now and the end of December 2008 will be:
- Soft cover - US$ 50
- Hardback - US$ 100
- Leather bound collector's edition - US$ 250
If you would like to know more about this project, please contact Stan Higgins at aquarius[at]mweb.co.zw or the Reps office at reps[at]mweb.co.zw.
